Paintings

The Transylvanian Museum owns a collection of paintings that dates back to the 18th century to the present, which is continuously extended through purchases, gifts and permanent loans. The main focus of the paintings collection is on works from Modernist artists. Styles range from academic naturalism to pure abstraction. The following artists, for example, are represented with a larger number of works: Arthur Coulin, Grete Csaki-Copony, Hans Eder, Ernst Graeser, Ernst Honigberger, Fritz Kimm, Hermann Konnerth, Ernestine Konnerth-Kroner, Hans Mattis-Teutsch, Friedrich Miess, Eduard Morres, Hermann Morres, Henri Nouveau, Jutta Pallos-Schönauer and Walter Widmann. A very special collection is the comprehensive set of Romanian glass icons.
